Jasmine, Carlos & family | Grand Rapids, Michigan

I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful family about 2 weeks ago. Life has gotten a bit hectic here and so it's has taken longer than planned to get up the preview. I am very, very close to having it completely finished! I hope you enjoy the storyboard! I will post more here very soon. Thanks so much for your patience!

Something Pretty for Wednesday | Grand Rapids, Michigan

My husband's family had a family reunion last weekend and his cousin had the most beautiful roses on the tables. I just had to take pictures - I had this vision in my head that I wanted to see come to life. I ended up pretty close to what I could see in my mind.

Happy Wednesday!

Crystal & Kevin Revisted, Sorta

I finished editing my sister's photos - there were a lot! I just had to add this one. After I had finished it, I sat back and really looked at it. I realized that this had to be what she had envisioned in her head when she was planning her wedding. wow.

Kristen & Fred | Wedding | Highland, MI

Last Saturday I had the privilege of meeting this beautiful couple and shooting their wedding. Their friend, and photographer (who is a friend of mine as well) had a serious accident with his left hand the Thursday before the wedding. He contacted me on Friday asking if I could assist and help with shooting the wedding. Fortunately, I was free and I was truly blessed to meet this sweet and loving couple. Here's a quick preview of their day.

Crystal & Kevin | Wedding | Traverse City, MI

Nothing really quite prepares you to watch your baby sister get married. After going through two sisters' weddings, you'd think there would be the usual happiness and the "ooohhhs" and "ahhhhs" that typically accompany a wedding. And, while there were plenty of those moments, there was definitely a strong tug at my heart when I watched (through the lens of my camera) her take those big steps into this new chapter of her life. Maybe it is because I was 12 when she was born and remember her as a baby -- babysitting for her and my brother which made it more difficult for me. Maybe it was because my new brother-in-law really showed his emotions when they said their vows (Do you know how hard it is to keep a camera still when you're choking back tears?!?). Regardless of the reasons - it was certainly a wonderful day that I am so very thrilled I was able to be a part of. I am honored that she allowed me to help document her special day. I only hope I can return the favor and give her pictures she will cherish forever.

Here is your preview hun, they barely scratch the surface of how beautiful you were on your special day. Love you always - your big sis.

Senior Session | Holland, Michigan

We had a fantastic session with this very pretty senior last Sunday. She's a beauty, and she's great in front of the camera! She had some great ideas and we had a lot of fun.

This shot is my all-time fave of the shoot. It was an instant "Oh yeah!" Very minimal processing - this had the WOW factor all over it.

Always need a good black and white:

This lovely backdrop is way too much fun! Doesn't she remind you of a young Geena Davis?

I adore the reflection here, and her expression is wonderful:

The beach, it is such a great place to be:

I hope you enjoy your preview! I can't wait to show you the rest!

New Post, Old Pictures

As I move forward with my new venture, I do it looking back at where I've started. Well, sort of. I started seriously taking pictures two years ago when my son was in his super cute 4 year old stage. After receiving compliments from people who had a background in photography I realized that this hobby I was enjoying could actually be more than a hobby!

So, I begin by looking back at where I started.
